Leslie Park To Host LPGA Volvik Championship Amateur Pre-Qualifier

ANN ARBOR—For those amateur female golfers dreaming of a chance to compete in an LPGA sanctioned event, the LPGA Volvik Championship Amateur Pre-Qualifier on Thursday, May 17 at Ann Arbor’s Leslie Park Golf Course will give those golfers that chance fulfill their dreams and swing with the pros.

“We have the unique opportunity to allow amateur golfers a chance to qualify for an LPGA sanctioned event,” said LPGA Volvik Championship Tournament Director Keith Karbo. “The LPGA pre-qualifying event is a great way for amateur golfers to showcase their skills.”

The three amateurs who card the lowest scores during the Pre-Qualifier will receive an automatic exemption directly into the Official LPGA Local Qualifier to be held at the Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti on Monday, May 21. From the official qualifier, the top two finishers will join the 144 field for the third annual LPGA Volvik Championship at Travis Pointe Country Club, May 21-27.

“This season, all tournaments hosting a qualifier will have three (3) amateur invitations,” added Karbo. “In the first two seasons of our tournament, we had two (2) spots. Now we get to add one more individual to play in the Official LPGA Local Qualifier at Eagle Crest.”

All participants MUST hold amateur status. As defined by the USGA: an amateur golfer, whether she plays competitively or recreationally, is one who plays golf for the challenge it presents, not as a profession and not for financial gain. Every amateur entry must satisfy the handicap requirement of a USGA Handicap index of 2.0 or less (or the equivalent handicap from the governing body of another country).

Starting times will be sent to players via email by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, May 15.

Entries will open for the LPGA Volvik Championship qualifier at Leslie Park Golf Course this coming Monday, April 9th at 8:00 a.m. EDT.

Click on the Register Here button

NOTE: If an amateur played in an LPGA qualifier in the past, the record exists in the system. Do NOT create a new record. 

Once the Amateur Status is selected, enter the following Tournament specific code when prompted:  18ANNAA

Enter credit card to pay the entry fee and complete the registration

The site will continue to be hosted by OCS Sports and managed by the LPGA.  The online portal will enable players to enter a qualifier and pay entry fees via credit card.  Entries will not be accepted without successful payment online prior to the entry deadline.
