Reports are that the LPGA will add the Evian Masters as a fifth Major. The Evian Masters already is a Major for the European Tour and already is a co-sanctioned event between the LPGA and the Ladies European Tour.

I understand why this do this from a financial perspective. But it seems like a short-sighted decision. There’s already a women’s major in Europe. There really should be a women’s major in Asia. So, if they add that eventually (which they should), do they want to have six majors?
(I don’t see there being a huge problem with six … but certainly no more).
Perhaps they are preparing for the day when they lose one of the US Majors due to lack of sponsorship money. In recent years, they have been in constant danger of losing one or more.
