March Has One Last Laugh At Golfers In Michigan

After a week of mid fifties temperatures, southeast Michigan woke up on March 31 to to a snowy landscape.

This, after hitting 70℉ on March 28.

It got down to 25℉ overnight. Tomorrow, temperatures are supposed to rise into the upper forties. It’ll be 60℉ on Wednesday.

So … 70℉ to 25℉ to 60℉ in seven days.

That’s a golfer’s life in Michigan. A couple of Julys ago, I made the trek to the Upper Peninsula to play Greywalls in Marquette. The thermometer that day struggled to reach the mid fifties, and with an icy wind blowing in off Lake Superior, I thought I was playing in February. Luckly, I had been quite lazy and had not yet taken the winter golf gear out of my trunk. I played that July round with mittens, earmuffs and Zippo hand warmers in my pockets.

Golfers in Michigan need to pay attention to the Boy Scout Motto: Be Prepared.
