Michigan twins Reed and Hailey Hrynewich have pulled off an unusual feat: both have qualified for their respective US Amateur tournaments this year. Reed will play in the Men’s Amateur on Aug. 17-23 at Olympia Fields Country Club near Chicago. Hailey is playing this week at the US Women’s Amateur.
Earlier this summer, the twins played in their respective Michigan Amateur competitions. Hailey lost 1-up in 19 holes to Allyson Geer in the finals of the 99th Michigan Women’s Amateur.
The Hrynewich twins, 20, are collegiate golfers. Reed plays at the University of Michigan. Hailey plays at Ohio University.
