Michigan’s Gillis Earns Status On Champions Tour

Labritz Earns Medalist Honors at Q-School
Jaidee, Branshaw and Rowland Also Earn Status

Lutz, Florida – Pontiac, Michigan native Tom Gillis held on with a final round 72 to take the final spot for exemption into open, full-field events for the 2022 PGA TOUR Champions season.

Gillis’ 8-under 276 total beat four other players by just one stroke for the final PGA TOUR Champions card. The top five players at Q-School earn status on the PGA TOUR Champions; players who finished sixth to 30th are eligible to play in open qualifiers in 2022.

Rob Labritz won the Qualifying Tournament (final stage) with a bogey-free 7 under 64. Labritz posted a a 72-hole score of 17-under 267 to finish three strokes ahead of runners-up Thongchai Jaidee and David Branshaw.

Labritz has played in eight PGA Championships, including each of the last three, and earned low club professional honors in 2010 (T68) and 2019 (T60). At the Senior PGA Professional Championship in October, he finished sixth, one spot away from an exemption into Final Stage.

Jaidee and Branshaw shared runner-up honors at 14-under 270 before Jaidee birdied the first playoff hole (No. 10) to earn the No. 2 spot.

Also earning a card was Roger Rowland.

Meanwhile, Tom Werkmeister finished 70th, outside of even partial status.
