Michigan’s Grand Island Ice Caves Featured On New Stamps
The USPS is featuring Michigan’s Grand Island Ice Caves on a new Priority Mail Express stamp.
The Grand Island Ice Caves are located in the sandstone bluffs on Grand Island near Munising in the Upper Peninsula. In winter, lake water that has seeped into the bluffs drips to form massive ice curtains and icicles. The result is a wonderland worthy of Disney’s Frozen.
Grand Island is part of the Hiawatha National Forest in the Upper Peninsula. In the summer, it is worth a trip to the area to tour the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore by boat. You can see my photos of Pictured Rocks at the link.
Also nearby is the renowned Greywalls Golf Course, in Marquette. You can read my Greywalls Golf Course Review at the link.
