The Kingsley Club in Northern Michigan has moved into GolfWeek’s Top 20 for Best Modern Golf Courses.
“For Kingsley Club to continue moving up and breaking into the top 20 among Golfweek’s best modern courses is a testament to the vision of our owners Ed Walker and Art Preston,” said Justin Mack, general manager at Kingsley Club. “They have created a unique national golf experience with a staff in place from course maintenance to golf operations that continues to maintain the club at the highest level.”
Architect Mike DeVries’ design is said to be reminiscent of “Golden Age” works by Alister MacKenzie. Spread over 320 acres of land just south of Traverse City, it features a wide-open front nine, complemented by a back nine in a traditional Northern Michigan woodlands setting.
The club is private, with just 200 members. Still, Kingsley Club’s ranking just further cements Michigan’s position as America’ Summer Golf Capital. With more than 800 public courses to choose from, Michigan golfers and visitors never lack for golfing adventure.
