
Oakland Hills To Host Drive, Chip and Putt October 16
Oakland Hills will host a regional qualifier for the Drive Chip and Putt competition on October 16, 2021. It is one of ten regional sites. (Drivechipandputt.Com)
Drive, Chip and Putt is a collaboration between the USGA, The Masters Tournament and the PGA of America. The points-driven skills competition calls for players to
- Make three drives down a 40-yard wide fairway. Drives in the fairway score points.
- Attempt three 10 – 15 yard chips at a scoring holes, with scoring rings around the hole determining points.
- Putt one ball from 6′, 15′ and 30′, with scoring rings around the hole determining points.
Players compete in four age divisions.
The top boy and girl finishers across the four age divisions (80 in all) will compete in the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals at Augusta National on the Sunday before the 2022 Masters Tournament.
Local qualifying for Drive, Chip and Putt was held at 326 sites across the US. The top three scorers per venue in each age and gender division advanced to 60 subregionals in July and August. Two competitors in each age and gender division then moved on to the regional qualifiers.
In addition to Oakland Hills, regional qualifier courses include: Medinah Country Club (IL), Oak Hill Country Club (NY), Colorado Golf Club, Quail Hollow (NC), TPC RIver Highlands (CT), TPC Scottsdale, Pebble Beach, The Alotian Club (AR) and The Bears Club (FL).
