Odds To Win The 2019 PGA Championship
Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka are the odds on favorites to win the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black. Both are in at 10/1.
Johnson currently occupies the spot at number one player in the world. In 2019, he has one win and six top ten finishes. The win was at the WGC-Mexico. Among his top tens is a T2 at the Masters and a T4 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. With his length off the tee, he’s a good beat at Bethpage Black.
Koepka is a Majors Savant. He has five PGA TOUR wins — three of which are Majors. Somehow this guy gets his Mojo going on the biggest stages. This year, Koepka has a win at the CJ Cup, and T2s at The Masters and The Honda Classic.
In at 11/1 are Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods. Rory has been playing well this year, with a win at The Players, a second at the WGC Mexico and a T4 at the Genesis Open. Tiger is … well, he’s Tiger. It doesn’t pay to bet against him. I honestly never thought he would win another Major, what with his back, knee and above-the-neck issues. Shows what I know.
The guy I’m rooting for, however is Rickie Fowler (I still think a man of thirty should be called “Rick” instead of the diminutive “Ricky”.) Fowler is number 10 in the Official World Golf Rankings and has one win this year at the Phoenix Open to go with a T2 at the Honda Classic and five top ten finishes overall.
An intriguing pick might be Matt Kuchar. He has been somewhat quietly having an outstanding year and is currently first in FedEx Cup Points, which is more of a “what have you done for me lately” measure than the OWG. He has two wins: The Sony Open and Mayakoba, and a second at WGC Dell Match Play. Kuch doesn’t have a Major to his stellar career of 9 wins. This could be the year.
