Odds To Win The 2011 AT&T National

Nick Watney thus far this year has a win, seven top tens, ten top 25s and has made the cut in eleven of thirteen starts. Those kind of stats will get you top billing in the bettors lists. At the AT&T National this week, Watney is the favorite at 14/1.

He’s followed in succession by Ryan Moore at 18/1, Hunter Mahan, KJ Choi and Bo Van Pelt at 20/1; then its Webb Simpson and Bill Haas at 25/1 and Rickie Fowler at 28/1.

What I find curious about this week is the absence of top drawer talent. The AT&T National is Tiger’s baby, and yet this tournament seems to be absent every one of the top ten in the world rankings. Numbers 15 (Watney), 16 (Choi) and 19 (Mahan) are there, though. Only four of the top ten in the FedEx Cup are there. And its’ not as though they’re all playing the Alstom Open de France Le Golf National,Paris,France, either. This must be the week for players to sit down and take a rest.
