Odds To Win The 2014 US Women’s Open

There is a fine line between genius and madness, and I think that the USGA straddles that line by holding the US Men’s and Women’s Open back-to-back on the same course. Fans will either have more interest in the Women’s Open because of its proximity to the men’s tournament, or get bored for exactly the same reason.

For my part, I’m a fan of the women’s game and will watch the US Open at Pinehurst with great interest.

The number one and two players in the Rolex Women’s Golf rankings are also the top two in the odds to win the US Open: Inbee Park, and Stacy Lewis, both in at 13/2. Teen phenom Lydia Ko is third in the rankings, and third in the odds at 13/1. But that’s where the rankings and the odds part.

Lexi Thompson, Michelle Wie, Sanshan Feng and Suzann Pettersen all are at 16/1.  Rounding out the top ten are Anna Nordqvist, Christie Kerr and Paula Creamer, who are all in at 20/1.

One thing I think is certain about the Women’s US Open: it will be more competitive than the mens. I can’t imagine that anyone will jump out in front and stay there as Martin Kaymer did.
