Look for another first-time-this-season winner at this weeks Arnold Palmer Invitational. Thus far this season, there have been thirteen different winners in as many events.
Tiger would be a first time winner this year and given his past success at the Palmer, it’s really no surprise that he’s atop the odds at 7/1. If his gimpy legs hold up and his case of the yips hold off, he has as good a chance here as any time this year.
Phil Mickelson follows Tiger at 12/1, then Justin Rose and Webb Simpson at 16/1. Phil and Justin have won this year, so the season’s Karma is against them. Webb is still looking for the season’s first.
Actually, the guy I think is an interesting choice this week is Sergio Garcia. One hole aside, he’s been playing much better this year. Even more telling: he looks like he’s enjoying golf again.
