Odds To Win The Farmers Insurance Open 2014

I think you’d have to be crazy to bet on anyone but Tiger Woods at Torrey Pines. It is one of the half-dozen courses responsible for more than half his PGA Tour victories. The betting public isn’t crazy, so they have him set as a 9/4 favorite to win the Farmers Insurance Open. That effectively says Tiger has a 30% chance of winning the title.

It also is no surprise to see Phil Mickelson in the second position, at 10/1. Phil has won the title three times—although the last was in 2001.

Brand Snedeker, who won in 2012, is the bettors third choice at 18/1.

If I wasn’t taking Tiger, my choice would be someone from the middle of the pack. There’s a passel of great players in at 40/1, any one of which I’d take: Billy Horschel, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, Mark Leishman, Nick Watney and Rickey Fowler. The three names at 50/1 also are solid: Charles Howell, Gary Woodland and Graham Delaet.

It’s Tiger’s to lose, though. By the time he’s done with his career, Torrey Pines will be renamed in his honor, for all the victories he has there. They may also have to rename Bay Hill and Firestone.
