Odds To Win The Northern Trust Open 2012

Fresh off his victory at Pebble Beach, Phil Mickelson is the 9/1 favorite to win the 2012 Northern Trust Open. That’s not a bad bet. Phil has won the event twice before—and in the recent past: 2008 and 2009. I like the pick even more because in recent years, Phil has been brightest early in the season. His late season starts have been less successful.

World Number One Luke Donald is in at 14/1. I think this is a good chance for Donald to make a statement—that last year wasn’t some sort of fluke.

Bettors have Dustin Johnson at 22/1. Heh. Maybe away from Pebble he’ll look better.

Sergio Garcia and Adam Scott are in at 28/1. After missing the cut at the FedEx St. Jude Classic last year, he went on to finish in the top ten at the US and British Opens, and made the cut in his final eight events on the PGA Tour On the European Tour, he won back-to-back event including the Castelló Masters and the Andalucia Masters All this has resulted in a climb from 82nd to 16th. Scott is making his first Tour start of the year.
