Odds To Win The Travelers Championship 2011

I would that tournaments following Major Championships could find themselves suffering from a lack of lack of starpower, as the big names take a week off after the big event. The Travellers, however, seems to be in pretty good shape, all things considered. It lacks European stars—many of whom are playing in the BMW International Open—but there’s plenty of names left.

Oddsmakers have Hunter Mahan as the top choice at 11/1, with Nick Watney following at 16/1. Bubba Watson and Zach Johnson are in at 20/1. Bubba didn’t have a good showing at the US Open, but I thought Zach Johnson looked like he was hitting the ball well. David Toms, who’s had a bit of a renaissance lately, is in at 22/1, followed by Bo Van Pelt and Brandt Snedeker at 25/1. Snedeker played well at the US Open, finishing in a T11. Van Pelt finished T14.

Web Simpson finished T14 at the US Open, and now is in at 28/1 for this weekend’s event. Lucas Glover, Padraig Harrington and Ryan Moore round out the top 10 at 33/1. None of those three particularly distinguished themselves. Glover and Harrington finished in the 40s; Moore missed the cut.
