Odds To Win the Wyndham Championship 2011

There’s a pretty good field at the Wyndham Championship this week, even if Tiger passed on the opportunity to get some more reps in by playing. David Toms, who has had somewhat of a renaissance this year, leads the odds at 12/1. He’s followed by Bill Haas, a forgotten Young Gun who’s made the cut in 18 of 21 starts this year, including two seconds. Haas, who finished T12 at last week’s PGA, is 20/1 along with Webb Simpson. They’re followed by Charles Howell, Brandt Snedeker and Brendan de Jonge at 25/1.

That’s an interesting mix at the top, especially considering that Jim Furyk (28/1), Ian Poulter (33/1), Padraig Harrington and Retief Goosen (40/1), Ernie Els and Davis Live (50/1) also are in the field.

I think what we’re seeing here over the last few months is a real passing of the guard.

  1. On Morning Drive today they were pointing out the notables for this week and why you are seeing some of them there-  We all know that Tiger is not in the top 125 to make the playoffs, but at 126 and 130 is Els and Harrington.  I had no idea that neither of them were currently in the playoffs.

Angel Cabrerra is at 150, Boo Weakley is at 154.

At 125 is Villegas, right on the bubble.

I don’t know how many people can move up or down significantly from one tournament, but Goosen, Appleby, and Poulter are all above 100.

I am rooting for Daly at Cup #199 to win.
