Pairings Set for US Open

The USGA is famous for its humorous pairings at the US Open. For example, one famous pairing featured “best players to never have won a major”; another, “famous whiners.”

THe USGA has posted the pairings for the 2005 US Open at Pinehurst. I haven’t spotted any “theme” groups, but I know they’re there.

If you spot any, I’d like to hear them.

  1. 121. Shingo Katayama, Japan
    122. Miguel Angel Jimenez, Spain
    123. John Daly, Collierville, TN

Anyone know if Katayama likes a cigar?

  2. Clearly Jacobsen, Langer and Haas were put together as a sort of “over the hill” gang.

And I think that Lee Westwood, Kenny Perry and Craig Parry could be “Lee and Perrys” [a tribute to Lee and Perrins Worcestershire Sauce]
