PGA Tour Releases Details Of Q School Replacement

Details of the new path to the Tour have been released:

Beginning in 2013, 150 players will compete in three $1 million tournaments known as “The Finals.” The 150 players will be composed of the top 75 players from the Web.Com Tour, plus the top 75 players who do not qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs. Everyone starts on at ground zero, and 50 cards will be awarded based on the money list after the three tournaments.

The scenario is complicated a little bit by the fact that the top 25 from the Web.Com Tour regular season will get cards, even if they don’t make the top 50 in the Finals money list. Those will play for position in the 2013-2014 season, which starts October 2013 following The Finals.

Q School will exist to place players in the Web.Com Tour.

The plan actually sounds pretty good to me. The interrelationship between the FedEx Cup Playoffs, the Web.Com Tour and the Finals should make all three more compelling.
