I saw this notification in the Twitter feed of my friends at Michigan Golf Live and thought I’d pass it on.
Twenty years ago, I coached a girls high school golf team, and had to scrounge clubs. I started my first team with four girls, none of whom had played golf. By the second year, we had eight, two of whom had played.
The local Second Swing golf donated a bunch of clubs, and I had a bunch of men’s clubs that I had gotten for review via this blog that I donated.
Before I stepped down as coach, two of my players had gotten golf scholarships to Michigan schools.
Women’s golf matters. Women are 51% of the population, but only 20% of the golfers. With all of the nonsense being spewed about ways to “grow the game,” the most obvious one seems to escape most: increase the number of women in the game.
If you do donate some clubs, tell ’em The GolfBlogger sent you.
