25th GAM Women’s Championship To Be Played Monday and Tuesday

Polo Fields – Ann Arbor Hosting 25th GAM Women’s Championship

ANN ARBOR – The modern links-style golf course at The Polo Fields Golf & Country Club Ann Arbor will test the field of the state’s best women golfers in the 25th GAM Women’s Championship presented by GolfWeek Monday and Tuesday.

A field of 64 golfers will play 36 holes of stroke play over two days in the silver anniversary of the championship, which is open to women golfers of all ages who have USGA/GAM handicap indexes lower than 15.4.

Julie Guckian of Linden, a Grand Valley State University golfer, is defending her title. Guckian the only former champion in the field, but will likely be tested by the many collegiate golfers and the likes of Sarah White of Caledonia at Western Michigan University, Jacqueline Setas of East Lansing and Michigan State University, Elayna Bowser of Dearborn and Loyola University Chicago, Anika Dy of Traverse City, Anna Kramer of Spring Lake, Kaitlyn Watkins of Frankenmuth and Western Michigan University and recent GAM Girls Junior State Amateur champion Kerrigan Parks of Flushing.

The Polo Fields Ann Arbor was designed by William Newcomb, and opened in 1995. It is a private golf club with generous fairways, but fast challenging greens. The course plays to a maximum of 6,752 yards and has eight sets of tee positions up to 5,041 yards.
