Rackham Land Conservancy Formed

A land conservancy has been formed by Detroiters and Suburbanites in an attempt to save the historic Rackham Golf Course from developers. The course, which was designed and build in 1924 by Donand Ross, was donated to the city of Detroit on the understanding that it remain a golf course. Detroit City Council has ignored the legacy of its donors, however, and has voted to sell the course to developers.

Now, a group calling itself The Rackham Conservancy is attempting to raise the money to buy the course back. Thus far, the group says it has raised more than $6 million.

I wish them well. Rackham deserves to be saved from developers.
