I last played Black Lake in Northern Michigan in 2009. I returned there for another round this week, and the golf was so good that I wondered why it isn’t on my “play at every opportunity” list. The course is challenging but fair, visually interesting, and in pristine condition. If you are visiting “Up North” Michigan, this is a must-play track.
The biggest change since my original review of Black Lake Golf Course is that the nines have been reversed. Now, hole 18 plays in a terrific finish right at the clubhouse porch.
With the trees and grasses, this would be an absolutely spectacular play at the height of the Michigan “color” season.
