Rickie’s Caddie Will Carry A Stand Bag At The US Open

In the “Why Isn’t This Already A Thing?” Category Rickie Fowler’s Caddie will tote a stand bag at the 2018 US Open.

Rickie’s caddie, Joe Skovron, will carry a custom COBRA Golf & Vessel US Open Tour Stand Bag as a nod to Rickie’s amateur days and amateur golfers. Rickie made his debut at the US Open as an amateur a decade ago, teeing it up in 2008 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego. (You remember that one. Tiger won on a broken leg).

Skovron said:

“You only see a staff bag at a professional tournament, or maybe in a mancave, but it’s not what most golfers use. We thought it would be a cool idea to carry a bag that most juniors, college players, and weekend golfers use instead of a staff bag that you only see on Tour. And selfishly, it’s nice to carry something a little smaller and lighter for the trek that is Shinnecock Hills.”

I’d bet a pile of money that caddies would prefer a stand bag over a staff bag every day of the week. It is just that the stand bags have so much more billboard space.

Still, I like the sentiment. No one I know has a staff bag — even those who never walk. Cart bags, which are half the size of a staff bag are the norm. My everyday bag is a cart bag which fits nicely into both my push cart and on occasion a driving cart.

I also love the look of that staff bag.

Bryson’s caddie will carry a custom COBRA Golf US Open Staff Bag inspired by the USA’s red, white and blue color story, and this week’s host site, Shinnecock Hills and its legendary club logo. See attached for full details on his bag!

COBRA Golf will host a giveaway for Rickie’s bag AND Bryson’s bag on social media channels (check @cobragolf for more information starting Monday). A very limited number of Stand Bags will be available for purchase on cobragolf.com
