Schupan Recycling, LPGA Volvik Championship Team For Sustainability

schupanMichigan’s Schupan Recycling has joined with the Volvik LPGA Championship in a three year sustainability partnership. The partnership is aimed at increasing waste diversion, integrating sustainable business practices and lessening the environmental impact of the tournament and highlights the growing importance of sustainability in sport.

“We’re thrilled to be able to work with the LPGA and the inaugural Volvik Championship,” said Jessica Loding, Events Coordinator for Schupan Recycling. “We have a great opportunity to develop a unique sustainability program for the tournament and hope the best practices will carry over to other tour events.”

The LPGA Volvik Championship will run from May 23-29 with the four-day tournament played May 26-29 over Memorial Day weekend at Travis Pointe Country Club in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It will feature a full field of 144 players competing in a 72-hole showcase for a purse of $1.3 million. In addition to the estimated $20 million economic impact, the sustainability initiative will provide a platform to develop innovations and solutions that encourage a more circular economy through waste reduction, sustainable purchasing, educational awareness and evaluation of resource usage.

We are very excited to announce this partnership on Earth Day and have Schupan Recycling join us for this tournament.”
