If these photos don’t stir your blood, then you’re not a real golfer.

I think it is a safe bet that every serious golfer has the Old Course on the bucket list. And while I too, would love to play there, I think that if I had just one trip to Scotland, I might prefer to find some places off the beaten track. I base this notion on my own experiences with Michigan golf. I have not had as much fun at some of the biggest names as I have with the dozens of less-well-known, but still high quality clubs. There’s a certain “authenticity” that gets lost when a place becomes a tourist destination.

On the southern shores of the Firth of Forth, a number of East Lothian courses have banded together to market themselves as “Scotland’s Golf Coast.” Their goal is to entice visitors to play their twenty two courses, and to enjoy that portion of Scotland in general.

As a part of this, the organization is sponsoring a Scotland’s Golf Coast Festival, which will run from 18th – 24th October, 2015. The itinerary looks like it will be a good experience. Read the press release for all the details.
