There’s a lesson in this for weekenders: Never lob when you can pitch. Never pitch when you can chip. Never chip when you can putt.
Around the greens, you want to reduce, as much as you can, the possibility of a bad outcome. With a putter, you are not going to hit it fat, skull the ball, or shank it.
