The Legend At Shanty Creek Is A Finalist For NGCOA Course Of The Year

The Legend, at the Shanty Creek resort in Bellaire, Michigan is among four courses vying for the 2015 National Golf Course of the Year award.

The award, given by the National Golf Course Owner’s Association, recognizes facilities that excel in four categories: course quality, quality of ownership and management, contributions to the community and to the game. This year’s winner will be annnounced on February 25, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas at the NGCOA Annual Conference.

The Legend is one of four courses at the Shanty Creek resort, which was recently named among the Top Golf Resorts in the World by Conde Nast Traveler. The four seasons resort in northern Michigan includes three “villages” over 4,500 acres: Summit, Schuss and Cedar River. Each has lodging, dining, golf, downhill skiing and cross country trails.

Designed by Arnold Palmer, the Legend covers more than 600 acres of Northern Michigan’s spectacular terrain. Palmer predicted that the course would be popular for golfers of all abilities, and that has turned out to be true.
