Shoutout To Michigan Golf Company RIMAC
Based in Warren, the company makes ball compression testing devices.
I always like boosting Michigan companies, whether it be Superstroke, Detroit Putter Company, Great Lakes Golf Company, Martini Tees, Royaltees Golf or any of the hundreds of courses and resorts.
I recently discovered RIMAC golf, which manufactures a ball compression device. A GolfBlogger supporter brought the video below to my attention, so I thought I’d pass it on.
To be honest, I thought that compression issues were a thing of the past — along with balls being out of round and unbalanced. Back in the day, I had a metal circle to pass balls through to ensure they were round, and was known to spin balls in a bath of Epson salts to ensure they were properly balanced. I also had a Check-Go — a battery powered device that spun the ball up so one could use a marker to determine the equator and sweet spot.
If RIMAC is to be believed, however, there can be serious inconsistencies from ball to ball — even within the same models. As a bogey golfer, I’m probably not the target audience for this device, but lower handicappers may find compression consistency is an edge over their opponents.
