A small blurb in the Detroit News says that six Michigan resort courses are headed for auction:
Six 18-hole championship golf courses, the centerpieces of three Michigan resort complexes, are to be sold in a sealed-bid auction. The Otsego Club and Black Forest at Wilderness Valley are in Gaylord; Manistee National Golf and Resort is in Manistee. Owner Osprey , which, according to its website, has properties in Michigan, Florida, North Carolina and elsewhere, is selling to streamline its portfolio, CBRE Auction Services said Tuesday.
The three named resorts have two courses each. I don’t think this means that any of them will close. I’ve played Black Forest, and it’s a very nice course that was quit busy on the day I was there. Otsego and Black Forest/Wilderness Valley are in the very busy Gaylord Golf mecca. So unless tourism is down more than I realize …
Osprey also owns a couple of other Michigan courses: The Medalist, near Marshall and Ridgeview in Kalamazoo.
