Sport RX Sunglasses Huckson XL Review
Sport RX Huckson XL Sunglasses
Grade: A+
Teacher’s Comments: Incredible clarity. Solid construction. SportRX’s online advisors offer personal attention.
Earlier this year, Sport RX sent a pair of their Huckson XL prescription sunglasses for review.
They’re terrific.
I’ve had prescription sunglasses made by local optometrists over the years, and they have been … fine. In my mind, however, the Sport RX Hucksons offer significant improvement in clarity and overall field of vision.
Clarity and field of vision are — as every golfer knows — important. One must be able to see the ball clearly at address, and also as it sails down the fairway. Clarity also is very important in reading greens. I have no problems seeing the breaks on the greens (even if I cannot always execute).

The lenses I got were distance only and have 26.2 transitions lenses. While the dark end of the Transitions achieve just 80% of the tint of a pair of dedicated dark sunglasses, I have found that they are fine even under Michigan’s sometimes brilliantly blue skies, particularly since I nearly always wear a wide-brimmed hat.
So why Transitions instead of plain sunglasses? It is because — as anyone who plays in Michigan knows — the skies can go from bright blue to cloudy in minutes. I also often play in the twilight hours, where the light goes from dim to bright (or bright to dim) as the hands on the clock advance.
In years past, I’ve carried two pair of sunglasses: one darker and one lighter. The solution was ok, but not great. There were times when the light was between pairs, and on the far edges of twilight, times when even the lighter pair was a bit much.
The Transitions lenses just seamlessly adjust, making it easy for me to follow the ball at all times.
I arrived at this Transitions solution thanks to the attention of one of SportRX’s sports-oriented optical specialists. Unlike a lot of online glasses providers, SportRX has a team of experts available to help its clients get into the best possible eyewear.

The Huckson is one of Sport RX’s house brand frames. The company literature on the Huckson says they’re made from an “eco-friendly plant based resin which makes it incredibly lightweight and comfortable you’ll forget they’re even on.”
I agree with everything in that statement. The Hucksons are very light and have been comfortable in temperatures ranging from near freezing to the mid-eighties.
I got the XL model because I have a tragically large head. They fit great.
SportRX carries all the big name brand frames — Oakley, Maui Jim, Ray-Ban, Bolle, Cost, Underarmour, Tifosi and more. Based in the Huckson, however, I think you can’t go wrong with one of SportRX’s house frames. They’re well built, and offer significant savings. The Huckson, for example, starts at $99, while Oakley typically starts at $174.
SportRX also does non prescription glasses, of course.
If you’re in the market for a new pair of sunglasses, I highly recommend SportRX. You’ll get a quality product, at good prices with great service.
