Sports Illustrated is offering a new weekly online golf magazine called Golf+ Digital. It’ll feature the usual golf magazine selection of instruction, news, equipment and course reviews. Because it is digital, there also will be video.
The magazine also has literary aspirations. There will be a serialized golf novel by Michael Bamberger about a top amateur golfer whose father is a mobster.
The serialization of novels has honored roots. All of Charles Dickens’ novels were published int his way—for the most part in 20 installments. Leo Tolstoy, Alexander Dumas and Jules Verne also wrote serialized novels.
Serialization of a novel is an interesting task for a writer, who not only has to think about readers who follow the series from beginning to end, but also those who start after it starts. It will be interesting
