SuperStroke Iron Man Putter Grip Review
SuperStroke Iron Man Putter Grip
Grade: A
Teacher’s Comments: Great feeling, cool looking, effective
SuperStroke makes a line of licensed Marvel character putter grips and recently sent one to me for review.
Currently, SuperStroke has SpiderMan, Hulk, Iron Man, Deadpool and Wolverine grips. More are on the way. I was happy to get the Iron Man one, as I collected those comics as a kid, having an unbroken run from issue 100 to 250 or so.
The SuperStroke Marvel grips are reskinned versions of the company’s popular Tour 2.0 design. It is fairly large and has no taper.
I installed the grip on my Bocceri Heavy Putter and have spent several rounds playing with it on courses in Northern Michigan. I have not played with a larger, parallel design grip before, and found that I really like it.
The larger grip size seems to reduce tension, as my hands do not have to close as far to hold it.
Try this: close your hand a quarter of the way, then close half to three quarters. That quarter point should feel a lot less tense. That’s the feeling with the SuperStroke Tour 2.0.
Lack of a taper in the grip — the “parallel design” — helps to even out the grip tension. As I think about it, it doesn’t make sense to have the top hand less tense than the lower.
I also like the grip’s feel. It’s slightly tacky, a bit rubbery and soft. It offers a good amount of feedback, letting me adjust fairly quickly to green speed.
The Heavy Putter B1M is a center shafted mallet, for which this grip seems ideal. I am curious as to how the Tour 2.0 would work on my Scotty Cameron Newport or one of my other Anser style blade putters. I might get a Spider Man grip to test it out.
The grip packages come with a matching poker chip sized ball marker. They’re metal with a nice heft.
SuperStroke also makes NFL, NHL and NCAA branded grips. Sadly, they don’t have one for West Virginia. I would definitely buy that one.
SuperStroke is a Michigan based company that makes a wide variety of putter and iron grips (read GolfBlogger’s Cross Comfort Grips Review and Zenergy 2.0 PT Grips review.) They also manufacture golf bags, apparel and so forth.
