Take Dad To The Meijer LPGA Classic For Free On Father’s Day

Meijer LPGA ClassicFor Father’s Day, the Meijer LPGA Classic in Grand Rapids, Michigan offers free admission for Dads who come with their kids.

I think that would be a great way to spend Father’s Day.

The Meijer LPGA Classic also will hold a Father’s Day Breakfast from 8:30 – 10:30 am at the Kid’s Center. There, celebrity Chef Carla Hill will host and give family-friendly demonstrations of recipes the kids can make at home. The Kid’s Center also will feature other activities, such as golf instruction clinics every fifteen minutes, games and arts-and-crafts. A cupcake decorating station will let kids decorate a cupcake for their Dad, with the $1 cost going to the Simply Give food bank program.

Food is central to the Meijer LPGA Classic. Meijer is familiar to midwesterners as a grocery superstore. The Meijer LPGA Classic tournament benefits Simply Give, a Meijer charity that helps local food banks keep their larders full. Since its inception in 2008, Simply Give has provided more than $26 million in donations. That represents some 300 million meals for the hungry.

And all weekend, more than 40 of West Michigan’s best restaurants and breweries will showcase their best at the Grand Taste Food Experience, an all-you-can-eat food and craft beer sampling pavilion at the heart of Blythefield CC. A ticket to the tournament and to the Grand Taste is $30 each day for adults and $10 for youth. Regular tickets without the Grand Taste option are $10. Tickets are on sale at all Meijer stores and online at meijerLPGAclassic.com.

I’m heading to the US Open this year, but you can bet that the Meijer LPGA Classic will be on my schedule for next year.
