The Colonial Invitational Is Now the Fort Worth Invitational

The long running PGA TOUR tournament at The Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth has been renamed The Fort Worth Invitational.

Under various names, a PGA TOUR tournament has been held every year at The Colonial since 1946.

In 2011, I had the amazing opportunity to play in the Colonial Invitational Pro-Am when it was the Crowne Plaza Invitational At Colonial. Mrs. GolfBlogger and I came away with a lifetime of memories from that event and are forever grateful to Crowne Plaza.

Crowne Plaza stepped away from the tournament two years ago, and a grocery store, Dean & Deluca, stepped in. Although Dean & Deluca had a six year agreement, they were unable to continue.

To fill the vacuum, American Airlines, AT&T, XTO Energy and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad stepped up. The tournament now is known as the Fort Worth Invitational.

I have been twice to play golf in Texas, and have to say it is one of my favorite places to visit. Fort Worth is terrific, as is Austin. I would love to make a return visit to the Lone Star State.
