Irish Band The Corrigan Brothers Pen Sergio Garcia Masters Ode
Corrigan Brothers, an Irish Band, will release a song commemorating Sergio Garcia’s Masters win on April 14. The band is responsible for previous YouTube hits “There’s no one as Irish as Barack O’ Bama” as well as golf songs including “Gotta Love the Beef” and “the Ballad of Rory McIlroy” will release a song for Sergio on April 14th.
Lead singer and 13 handicapper with the band Ger Corrigan explained, “we are golf nuts and when we came off stage we watched the final nine holes. For a while it looked like he was going to blow it but his self belief kicked in , it was the result that the golfing world had waited for for so long. Justin Rose is a wonderful golfer and a gentleman and demonstrated his great sportsmanship too.It was Sergios day and we had to celebrate it song.”
The Brothers re-wrote the lyrics of “There’s no one as Irish as Barack Obama” and changed the title to “Sergio did it on Seve’s Birthday” immediately after Sergio sunk his masters winning putt. Ger Corrigan continued ” the sportsmanship and respect between Sergio and Justin Rose was inspiring but when Sergios final putt went in we could hear the roar over here in Ireland, it was a golfing moment to remember, so we got writing and will record the song over the coming days and release it on April 14th. A special copy will be couriered to Sergio”.
