The GolfBlogger Is Now A Member Of The Golf Writers Association of America

I am proud to announce that I have been accepted as a member of the Golf Writers Association of America. It means a lot to me. I have always tried to conduct GolfBlogger.Com in a professional manner, and this, in its way, is a validation of that effort. I have long of myself as a professional writer. I have a degree in journalism from West Virginia University, and in the past have worked in reporter, ghost writer and public relations positions.

Even in my current position — as a high school teacher — I think of myself as primarily a story teller. I tell stories about our Constitution, our politics, or economy and our history. Then, in my off-hours, I tell stories about golf.

The Golf Writers Association of America was formed in 1946, just prior to the PGA Championship. Among the first presidents of the organization were O.B. Keeler and Grantland Rice.  Current members are a Who’s Who of the most prominent names in the golf writing business.

As I approach retirement from teaching, it seems that my next career may be shaping up.
