The Million Dollar Hole At Treetops’ Threetops Par Three Course

Threetops is the wondrous par three course at Gaylord, Michigan’s Treetops golf resort. Designed by Rick Smith, it has been rated as the best par three course in America by a number of national publications. I can think of no reason why that would not be so.

The course was the site of several televised ESPN Par 3 shootouts, bringing the courses massive elevation changes and imaginative design into the homes of millions. In the 2001 Shootout, Lee Trevino made a hole-in-one on the seventh hole (shown above) and walked away with a million dollars. Trevino donated half his take to St. Jude’s.

Below is the plaque that marks the spot.

I recently visited Treetops and will have a full review shortly.
