With all of the media frenzy over the return of Tiger Woods from knee surgery, and the apparent resurgence of Phil Mickelson, people seem to have forgotten Padraig Harrington. Having won the British Open Championship, and the PGA Championship, Harrington is half way to a Padraig Slam. If he wins the Masters and the US Open, he will duplicate Tiger’s feat of holding all four majors simultaneously. That’s not as good as holding them all in a single calendar year ala Bobby Jones, but it’s not a bad second.
Harrington could pull it off. He’s a skilled player, and mentally tough. In his last two Masters, he finished tied for fifth and seventh. He tied for eighth in the US Open at Bethpage Black in 2002. He’s not played terribly well this year, but it’s still early …
