These Players Are Favored To Win The 2022 Masters

Early Masters Odds from PowerPlay.Com have reigning US Open Champ Jon Rahm as the favorite to win a green jacket at 10/1. In 2021, Rahm finished T5. His best showing was a solo fourth in 2018; since then Rahm has not finished out of the top ten.

That’s a good sign at a course that rewards experience and consistent play.

Behind Ram are a group of elite players with multiple majors at 12/1.

The 24-year-old Collin Morikawa has two majors to his resume: the 2021 Open Championship and the 2020 PGA Championship. He has only appeared twice in the Masters, though, with a T44 in 2020 and a T18 in 2021.

Dustin Johnson at age 37 also has two Majors: the 2020 Masters and the 2016 US Open. Experience counts at Augusta National, but Johnson’s win came in the COVID year when the Masters was played in November. Some critics contend that conditions in November in Georgia were visibly different from early April. But Johnson has also had good finishes in April: He was T2 in 2019, T10 in 2018 and T4 in 2016.

Meanwhile Jordan Spieth seems to have found his way back after a long spell in the wilderness. Spieth’s win at the Texas Valero Open in April 2021 was his first since the 2017 Open Championship. After that, he placed third at the 2021 Masters, and had seconds at the Charles Schwab Challenge and the Open Championship.

Spieth has three Major championship wins: the 2015 Masters, the 2015 US Open and the 2017 Open Championship. His Masters record is quite remarkable. In eight starts, Spieth has a win, two seconds and two thirds.

At 14/1 are Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas.

A Masters win has notably eluded McIlroy. The 32 year old has been in position to win on several occasions but ultimately has never been closer than a solo four. He failed to make the cut in 2021.

Thomas is currently ranked sixth in the Official World Golf Rankings, and has one major championship win: the 2017 PGA Championship. His record at the Masters has not been noteworthy, although he did have a solo fourth in 2020.

Of note is that odds for the 2021 Masters Champion, Hideki Matsuyama, at 25/1. Matsuyama had a win at the ZoZo Championship on October 2021, but his post-Masters record was otherwise undistinguished.
