Tiger Woods has announced on his website that he’s no longer working with Stevie Williams.
Tiger Woods announced Wednesday that he and caddie Steve Williams will not be working together in the future.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Stevie for all his help, but I think it’s time for a change,” Woods said. “Stevie is an outstanding caddie and a friend and has been instrumental in many of my accomplishments. I wish him great success in the future.”
Presently, a replacement has not been name
I’m not at all surprised. I saw this coming ages ago and Steve on Scott’s bag was sign that this was coming soon.
My only question is who dumped who? My theory: Stevie told Tiger he was no longer interested in working with him. There was just too much drama.

I agree with you to a point. I think most likely it is all Steve’s call. I don’t think we will know – but my bet is that this is Steve’s idea. He probably thinks that he cannot help Tiger, and that perhaps someone else can. He may also have enjoyed being with someone without the drama.
However – this could be a very bad thing for Steve financially. How does Steve keep his endorsements (if he even still had them)? Further, when Tiger comes back, if he can win at some point, he will win probably more than whomever Steve ends up with. Those two factors mean it was more money to be made with Tiger, definately. (I take it he isn’t going to caddie for Rory)
Another possibility – Tiger is going to be out for good, or Steve thinks that is very likely.
Could this be good for Tiger? No. Tiger doesn’t listen to many people, Steve is one he did listen to. Is Sean Foley going to be on the bag? There needs to be a strong personality there, and one who can handle the public and intensity. It is a caddie job unlike any other. Steve wasn’t exactly PC all the time, but he is probably better than just about anyone else.
I think Steve knows that Tiger is never going to be the same. He may even suspect what I have been saying: that Tiger will never win again—unless be backs into it by everyone else losing (so to speak).
I also am sure that Steve has all the money he needs, and if it was managed well, he may never need to work again.
Seems like a lot are saying it was Tiger firing Steve. That Tiger probably was not happy about Steve working for Scott more than once.
I wonder if it is also possible that Steve and Tiger were practicing and Steve watched a couple poor putts and asked Tiger if he wanted to try a ladies putter.

Following the completion of the AT&T National I am no longer caddying for Tiger after he informed me that he needed to make a change. After 13 years of loyal service needless to say this came as a shock. Given the circumstances of the past 18 months working through Tiger’s scandal, a new coach and with it a major swing change and Tiger battling through injuries I am very disappointed to end our very successful partnership at this time. I have had the opportunity to work of late for Australian Adam Scott and will now caddy for him on a permanent basis. Having started my caddying career with Australian great Peter Thompson and working for Greg Norman in the 80’s I am excited about the future working for another Australian.
It appears that Tiger let Steve go and not the other way around.
