This past Sunday following a miss of a par putt, Tiger expectorated on the green, an action which prompted a fine from the European Tour. He later apologized via his Twitter account:

So this is the new Tiger? The one who vows to be a better role model, and who promised to show more respect to the game. I agree with Sky Sports Commentator Ewan Murray, who said: “There are some parts of him that are just arrogant and petulant. Somebody now has to come behind him and maybe putt over his spit. It does not get much lower than that.”

Perhaps Stevie should have been forced to wipe it up.

Longtime readers of this blog know that I’m not a Tiger fan. I’ve never liked his arrogance, his cursing, the club throwing, the awful looks on his face when he misses a shot, or the in-your-face intimidation he practiced. Even more, I’ve hated the media’s fawning over his every move. But I did admire his game.

Now, there’s not even that.

To be fair, though, it’s not nearly as vile as Sergio Garcia’s spitting INTO a cup a few years back. But Tiger’s got to know that the entire world is watching his every move, and behave accordingly.
