Turtle Creek Casino Michigan Open Qualifiers Rescheduled

  TRAVERSE CITY – The nine qualifier events presented to earn playing spots in the Turtle Creek Casino Michigan Open later this summer have been rescheduled and are now open for registration.

 It falls in line with the championship being rescheduled for Aug. 31 through Sept. 3 on The Bear course at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. It was previously scheduled for June 8-11 and postponed due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation, as were the qualifiers.

 A pro-am event has also been rescheduled to Aug. 28-29 preceding the championship. Details and information regarding the pro-am will also be released soon.

  In March it was announced that the best golfers from Michigan would play for the Michigan Open Championship’s largest purse ever thanks to a new sponsorship agreement reached with Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel. The 103rd edition of the state championship will have a purse of over $115,000.

  Registration for the qualifiers opened today at the redesigned Michigan Section PGA website (www.michiganpga.com) and the deadline to register is Wednesday, July 15 at 5 p.m. The entry fees are $180 for amateur golfers, $205 for a Michigan PGA Professional and $355 for a non-PGA professional.

 Eligibility for the championship is open to all male golfers who have established and maintained a domicile in the state of Michigan thirty (30) days prior to the championship, or any Michigan Section member in good standing having been employed for no less than thirty (30) days at a recognized golf facility prior to the championship 

 The qualifiers by site include: July 20 – Country Club of Lansing; July 21 – Quail Ridge Golf Club, Ada; July 23 – Marriott @ Eagle Crest, Ypsilanti; July 31 – Forest Lake Country Club, Bloomfield Hills ( PGA Member Only); August 4 – Pheasant Run Golf Club, Canton; August 7 – Black Lake Golf Club, Onaway; August 7 – Spring Meadows Country Club, Linden; August 21 – Forest Akers West, East Lansing; August 29 – (3) Spot Qualifier Site TBA.
