Up North Michigan Golf Course Reviews
As a golfer, I am blessed to live in Michigan. There are more courses here — reportedly as many as 800 — than anyone can expect to play in a lifetime. Even better: They are for the most part very reasonably priced. Still, I am making a dent. You can see my full list of Michigan Golf Course Reviews here: GolfBlogger’s Michigan Golf Course Reviews.
Although there is outstanding (and highly affordable) golf to be played in every community in the state of Michigan, the area known as “Up North” has courses that rival or surpass those that I’ve played anywhere else in the country. For the purposes of this list, I’ve counted “Up North” as anywhere north of a line drawn east/west through West Branch.
My favorite Up North Michigan golf course is Forest Dunes, in Roscommon. A course that draws national accolades, it is in the conversation for the title of best public golf course in Michigan. I also really love Black Lake. In the Upper Peninsula, you can’t beat Greywalls, Timberstone and Sweetgrass.
