It’s crunch time for US Junior Amateur competitors at Oakland Hills.
- The round of 32 starts Thusday at 7 a.m.
- The round of 16 starts at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
- Quarterfinal rounds start at 7 a.m. on Friday.
- Semifinals start at noon on Friday.
- The US Junior Amateur’s 36-hole final on Saturday begins at 8 a.m.
Admission is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
You should, if you can. It is a chance to see some really good golf close up. The crowds have been light once Charlie Woods left for Jupiter, and there are no ropes to speak of. Spectators can follow the matches quietly from a respectful distance in a stress free environment.
Plus, you’ll get to see the legendary Oakland Hills South.
The USGA is going to bring quite a few championships here over the next couple of decades:
YEAR | CHAMPIONSHIP |
---|---|
2024 | U.S. Junior Amateur |
2029 | U.S. Women’s Amateur |
2031 | U.S. Women’s Open |
2034 | U.S. Open |
2038 | U.S. Girls’ Junior |
2042 | U.S. Women’s Open |
2047 | U.S. Amateur |
2051 | U.S. Open |
See why for yourself.
Did I mention that it’s free? Yes. I did. And I’ll say it again. A championship tournament that’s free to watch.
Fan information can be found at usga.org.
If you can’t make it in person, Peacock will stream the semifinals and afternoon portion of the championship match with Golf Channel re-airing the broadcast on tape delay.
