The Bab Agnaou is one of nineteen gates in Marrakech, Morocco. The gate is the entrance to the Royal Kasbah. The kashab and gate were build by Almohad sultan Abu Yusuf Yaqub al-mansur in the 12th century.
Behind the gate lies a shopping district, where I picked up some a few things at the Herboristerie Bab Agnaou, including Ras el Hanout and cosmetics such as Argan Oil. Ras el Hanout means “top of the shelf,” and is a mix of quality spices. I have used the Ras el Hanout on several chicken, fish and vegetable dishes since returning from Morocco. Mrs. GolfBlogger uses the Argan oil and has pronounced it a very nice, ordorless, light moisturizer.
You can find Ras el Hanout on Amazon.. The brand at the link tastes very much like what I purchased in Morocco. Argan oil is on Amazon, too.
Three other items I purchased in the souk there were a Moroccan rug, and a pair of djebellas for Things One and Two.
