Warren Valley Golf Club—A Donald Ross You Can Play

image

I recently played in a golf outing at Warren Valley golf course. It’s not in good shape, and I question its actual pedigree, but it’s billed as a Donald Ross design. And it’s readily accessible to the public as part of the Wayne County rec system.

I’ll have more photos and a full write up later.

  1. I, sometimes, play on a Ross course that cost $10 with a cart.  It is on the Roosevelt property in Warm Springs, Georgia.  It is now owned by the state and in terrible shape. The design is so well laid out though that I have no problem believing that it’s a Ross.  I caddied at East Lake while in college and both courses end in a hard par 3.  It is a tough little 9 hole layout and perfect for when I want to get the kids out of the house.  They can play a few holes and then play in creek that runs through the course.  We do not hold anyone up because it is usually empty.  I wish that the state parks would take it over because we have some nice courses at our state parks that are really well taken care of.
