Webcasting From The Amen Corner

Here’s good news for anyone who wants to watch the Masters, but is stuck at work in their cubicle. CBS Sportsline and The Masters will offer 22 hours of live coverage of Augusta’s “Amen Corner” during the Masters.

You will be able to pick up the broadcasts of the 11th, 12th and 13th holes from http://www.cbssportsline.com and http://www.masters.org. Live coverage will run on April 6 and 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, the webcast will run from 12:30 to 5 pm, and on 1:30 to 6 on Sunday.

There also will be radio coverage, and webcasts from the practice tee.

CBS’ broadcast team will be Mike Hulbert and Phil Blackmar, both veteran golfers.

CBS is really being proactive in their webcasting. The network offered for free every game of the NCAA tournament on their CBS Sportsline site (barring local blackouts). I watched far more basketball than I should have, thanks to their webcasts.

The “Tiffany Network” also will have extensive HDTV broadcasting for those of you who are lucky enough to be able to afford one fo those sets. They will have 42 high definition cameras and 10 hand-held 16×9 standard definition cameras on the course. The entire production will be done in HDTV and then downconverted for those of us still on analog tv.

The 2000 Masters was the first golf tournament ever presented live in HDTV on network television. The 2003 Masters marked the first time that the standard and HDTV productions of the Tournament were unified.

This is CBS’ 51st year of broadcasting the Masters.
