Who Are The Highest Earners Per Stroke In Masters History?

Bookmakers.Com has an interesting Masters statistic: top earners per stroke.

That’s total earnings divided by the number of career strokes

Surprise: Tiger Woods is not number 1.

The top earner is instead Will Zalatoris, who finished second in his first and only Masters appearance in 2021.

The top 20 earners per stroke of all time at the Masters are as follows:

Overall Earnings
Per Stroke Rank
Per Stroke*
1Will Zalatoris$4,608.75
2Len Mattiace$2,899.68
3Jordan Spieth$2,842.44
4Sungjae Im$2,546.65
5Tiger Woods$2,545.63
6Jonas Blixt$1,986.01
7Phil Mickelson$1,793.35
8Dustin Johnson$1,698.75
9Danny Willett$1,656.80
10Xander Schauffele$1,645.76
11Patrick Reed$1,579.19
12Tommy Tolles$1,544.34
13Bubba Watson$1,490.88
14Chris DiMarco$1,474.88
15Hideki Matsuyama$1,403.65
16Retief Goosen$1,364.55
17Thomas Pieters$1,352.91
18Jon Rahm$1,337.58
19Cameron Smith$1,327.84
20David Duval$1,296.99

In generating the statistic, Bookmakers.Com adjusted the dollar values based on an average 3.53% year-on-year inflation rate.

In spite of topping the list, Zalatoris did not win the tournament, which in my mind is an achievement worth far more than gold.

Among those who have won the coveted Green Jacket, Jordan Spieth leads the list in earnings per stroke, followed by Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

Jack Nicklaus, who has six Masters titles, didn’t make the top 20. That is likely the quotient of a huge devisor resulting from playing in 45 Masters tournaments.
