Who’s In Your Top 20?

Fox Sports’ Tom LaMarre has compiled his list of the twenty best golfers on the PGA Tour.

Surprise. Tiger isn’t number one.

Lamarre’s top ten: 1) Phil Mickelson, 2) Tiger Woods, 3) David Toms, 4) Vijay Singh, 5) Retief Goosen, 6) Jim Furyk, 7) Ernie Els, 8) Geoff Ogilvy, 9) Sergio Garcia and 10) Chad Campbell.

These don’t exactly jive with the official standings, but remember that this list is about who Lamarre thinks is best currently. The standings take into account the last couple of years’ performance.

I think I agree, for the most part. But I’m not sure I would put Sergio in the top ten. But then I don’t know who I would replace him with.

I’m also not sure that I’d include JB Holmes at 20. Normally, I’d put Kenny Perry in the top 10, and he’s bump JB out, but Perry hasn’t played this year. But how about Fred Couples? A 4th at the Nissan and a 3rd at the Masters—and he’s playing terrific golf of late. Surely he is a better choice than JB.
