Wie Not The Only Up And Coming LPGA Star

Teenager Michelle Wie has gotten a lot of press lately, and with good reason:  20 women’s events starts, 2 PGA and a Nationwide start, and seemingly limitless potential.

But Wie is not the only up and coming star. There’s also Julieta Granada and Morgan Pressel. On the weekend of the Kraft Nabisco Championship, The Desert Sun has an article on these prodigies.

  1. I personally am a bit tired of hearing about how great Michelle Wie is.  A guy wrote the Golf Channels Grey Goose 19th Hole and said Wie would break all of Sorenstam’s records.  Please!  She hasn’t won ANYTHING yet!  She won the US Public Links, but then lost it the following year.

Tiger Woods won the Junior title back-to-back-to-back then goes and wins the Amatuer back-to-back-to-back.  Then goes on to win 42 PGA events before he’s even 29.

Sorenstam is 34 years old and has won 59 tournaments and 8 Majors.  With 60 wins she will have tripled the LPGA’s requirement for the Hall of Fame.  All before the age of 35!!!

Michelle Wie has great potential.  Who can argue that?  She booms the ball (so does Scott Hend, Brett Wetterich, and Tad Ridings by the way), and she’s quite attractive.  Which, by the way is a big reason for her celebrity.  Big booming drive or not, if she looked like Liz on the Big Break III nobody’d really care.  But all those issues don’t change the fact that she has no short game, and NO victories.

Let’s let her win a few tourney’s, not just show up and look pretty, and let’s talk!
